Woody will be waiting...in the Big House
Nineteen months ago, we reported in Fat City that a former Kansas City waiter, John David Woody -- who had moved to Los Angeles -- was possibly the worst waiter in town during his tenure in the ol' City of Fountains. Why? Woody, who had been an employee at Brio Tuscan Grill on the Country Club Plaza, was indicted in December 2008 for stealing identity information from his restaurant customers' credit cards, then using the information to make online purchases.

It's now official: Woody is the worst waiter. This week he was sentenced to three years in federal prison without parole.

In a news release issued yesterday by the office of Beth Phillips, the United States Attorney, Western Division of Missouri, it was announced that the 35-year-old Woody was sentenced for stealing identity information from Brio customers and using the credit card information to make online purchases, including "thousands of dollars of boxed sets of DVDs." U.S. Chief District Judge Fernando J. Gaitan sentenced Woody to serve three years in federal prison without parole. Woody had pleaded guilty in January to aggravated identity theft, credit card fraud and mail fraud.

What. a. moron.

It takes a special type to think that they can get away with something as blatant as stealing credit cards in that manner. Wow.
