Jamba Juice launched a parody marketing campaign for Cheeseburger Chill Smoothies -- a blended-up burger with a ketchup-and-mustard swirl. Wondering if a burger will blend? Yes, it will....meat chunk by meat chunk.
"It does seem some burger chains are getting into the smoothie business -- which to us is about as weird as a Cheeseburger Chill Smoothie." That's the explanation behind the joke at the campaign's microsite, where you can also get a coupon for $1 off a smoothie.
Jamba Juice has rightfully decided to protect its smoothie universe, but this isn't McDonald's first foray into the fruit world. Where were you, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, when McDonald's introduced Apple Dippers? And where were you, Starbucks, when McDonald's unveiled fruit and yogurt parfaits?
