You'll find aioli out the wazoo on menus around town. But we all forgot how delicious mayonnaise can be in the right sandwich.

Jake Hendershot is doing a good job of making us remember. The owner of Pandolfi's Deli in Columbus Park has a signature condiment in cheesy mayo. Just as the sauce can make the pasta, this mayo is a tangtastic addition to a deli sandwich.

There's a sharp pop of parmesan when it hits your tongue that's then smoothed out by the mayo. It's like a cheese ball turned into a sandwich spread.

Even as I'm dipping in my meatball sub, I'm thinking about cheesy mayo on hot wings and hot dogs. This is the kind of condiment that I need more of in my life.

Cheesy mayo can be added to any sandwich, but it comes standard on the No. 5 -- Turkey & Cheese (white American cheese, turkey, lettuce, tomato and red onion).

Pandolfi's Deli is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Monday to Saturday). For more information, see pandolfisdeli.com or call 816-569-3663.
