You can add a second failed restaurant to the location at 900 West 39th Street: One year after we reviewed Mexican restaurant the Caliente Grill in the pages of The Pitch, the family-run operation is closed.
Before Marijo Goetz and her daughter Patrice Seegar turned the venue into the Caliente Grill, it was the more sophisticated Pangea Cafe & Market, operated by Martin and Wendy Rudderforth.
Fans of both closed restaurants like to point out that this location -- hard to see from 39th Street -- isn't so terrific. Then again, the uninspiring Chinese buffet across the parking lot always seems to be busy.
