Jeff Martin didn't win Cupcake Wars -- the Food Network baking competition that has four cupcake makers vying for $10,000. Actually, he didn't even make it out of the first round.
But Martin was honest, admitting that in the rush of competition he had forgot to add the challenge ingredient of pumpkin. And whether he knew it or not, Whoopi was watching...
That's Whoopi Goldberg -- the comedian and co-host of The View -- who has a regular segment called "Whoopi's Favorite." She apparently appreciated Martin's honesty and invited him to be a guest on the show as the de facto representative for Midwest cupcakes.
And tomorrow, "Whoopi's Favorite Desserts," the segment Martin filmed at the end of July will air at 11 a.m. The segment focuses on cupcakes and Martin's red-velvet cupcake will be front and center.
Meanwhile Martin is winning over plenty of fans back home. With shops in Overland Park and Olathe, Smallcakes is apparently considering expanding into Wichita, according to The Wichita Eagle.
The View airs on ABC at 11 a.m. daily.
