Restaurant Week kicks off in the Power & Light District today with lunch and dinner specials running until next Sunday, August 29.
The district has 17 restaurants participating by offering either $10 lunch menus or $25-$30 dinner menus. For each lunch or dinner you order, you will receive a $5 or $10 gift certificate to use at your next visit at that restaurant.
When it comes to lunch, the Pizza Bar may have the best bang for the buck. Ten bucks buys a house salad, a slice of pizza, dessert and a soft drink or iced tea. Ted's Montana Grill has a duo of beef and bison sliders among its five entrees; it comes with a cookie baked in-house.
As for dinner, Maker's Mark Bourbon House & Lounge has a three-course meal for $25 that comes with a house salad, bourbon-glazed salmon or 10-ounce strip steak, and the dessert of the day. The Genghis Grill is a good bet if you're eating with someone else. It's $25 for two people, and that includes two build-your-own bowls, a dessert and two sodas or iced teas.
The Bristol is where you go to treat yourself. You'll have a lot of tough choices on the $30, three-course menu. The first course is whether to go for the heirloom tomato salad or the lobster bisque. After that, it's crab cakes, seared scallops, grilled salmon, or a 6-ounce filet. And the dessert ingredients range from root beer sorbet to hazelnut rice crispy treats.
