Anniversaries are sweet. And they're even sweeter when they come with beer specials. The 75th Street Brewery is celebrating its 17th anniversary until Sunday, and the party starts today.
The big news is that Yardbird's Saxy Golden Ale is coming back to the regular line-up --- it returned to taps at the beginning of August. And this week, you can buy two growlers of the straw-colored brew for $17.
Mug Club members should stop by tonight between 4 and 6 p.m., when it's free appetizers and $1.70 mugs of beer. The rest of us can enter the Tournament of Beers. If your bracket predicts the champion, you could win free beer for a year. Tuesday is Team Trivia Night. It kicks off at 8 p.m. Pitchers are $10.
Wednesday, 75th Street releases its 2009 Black Out Oatmeal Porter. This could be your whole meal while you enjoy live bluegrass from the Three Dollar Band. Thursday, the Brewer's Reserve List comes out of the fridge. You'll get a chance to see what inspires the brewers from the stash of reserved bottles at 75th Street; meanwhile, it's $4 off the Big Ass Beer List (750 ml bottles).
Friday is an end-of-the-week happy hour with live jazz in the bar from 6 to 10 p.m. And Saturday, there's canned beer in the Alley -- the new beer garden. Your first can of beer comes with its very own Alley koozie.
Sunday, you can try 75th Street's new brunch, which debuted this month. The a la carte brunch goes from 11 a.m to 2 p.m, and features omelets, a Monte Cristo and a breakfast burrito. And don't worry: Biscuits and gravy are on the menu.
