The Kansas City Irish Fest
-- the third-largest of its type in the country -- comes to Crown
Center today and runs through Sunday. You can work your way through a Scotch egg (hard-boiled egg wrapped in
sausage and deep-fried) or Guinness Irish stew before washing it all
down with a Boulevard Stout. Dessert can be Dippin Dots, Sheridan's Custard or Kona Ice. Or a second Scotch egg.
Celebrity Chef Kevin Dundon gives a demonstration of Irish
cooking at 7 tonight in the Heritage Tent. Tickets are $15 at the
gate ($10 today), $10 in advance online or at Hy-Vee. The entertainment
runs from 5 to 11 p.m. tonight, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday and
Sunday.
Santa-Cali-Gon Days is in full swing in Independence. The festival, held annually in Independence Square, runs through Monday. The event celebrates the city of Independence as the starting point for the Santa Fe, California and Oregon trails. Fill up on fair food like walking tacos, polish sausages and chicken on a stick. Admission is free.

in Overland Park hosts a brewmaster luncheon at 2 p.m. on Saturday. The four-course meal starts with a shrimp-and-lobster corn
dog paired with a Wittekerke. Dessert is a Neapolitan ice-cream
sandwich paired with Young's Double Chocolate Stout. The lunch is $30
($24 for Mug Club members).
It's a Pepper Party at City Market tomorrow. Learn about bell peppers and jalapenos, all while enjoying samples from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Local growers and food producers make up the Local Farmer and Food Artisan Road Tour that stops in at the Whole Foods (7401 West 91st Street, Overland Park) parking lot on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
