The Smokestack Series from Boulevard Brewery has always seemed to require a bit of planning -- you need a friend to split the 750 ml bottle, whether you want to share or not. Well, curmudgeons and those of us who enjoy a beer after work during the week can be a bit more casual in our enjoyment of Boulevard's seasonal offerings. The brewery is in the process of putting together four-packs of 12-ounce Smokestack brews to be released in November.
"You'll be able to purchase Double-Wide I.P.A., the Sixth Glass,
Tank 7 Farmhouse Ale and Dark Truth Stout in new proprietary 12-ounce
bottles," says Boulevard spokeswoman Julie Weeks.
The new Smokestack beers, nicknamed "little smokies" by the KC Beer Blog, will come in new, rounded glass bottles that mimic the 750-ml bottles now on the market. The beer inside remains unchanged. The smaller Smokestack bottles are part of a slate of new releases from Boulevard, including the brew designed for the brewery's 21st anniversary.
"We're excited for what is on the horizon this fall at the brewery. A special 21st Anniversary Fresh Hop Pale Ale, paying tribute to our flagship beer, Pale Ale, is currently fermenting with fresh Cascade hops. It will be released as a Smokestack Series beer in late October," Weeks says.
In addition to the limited release Fresh Hop, Seeyoulator Doppelbock will return as part of the Smokestack Series in a few weeks time. Amber Ale should be available in six packs by the end of the month. And beer drinkers can look forward to Nutcracker Ale, Harvest Dance Wheat Wine and Bourbon Barrel Quad in November.
