Earlier this month, readers at pitch.com voted B.R.G.R. Kitchen + Bar their favorite new restaurant. And who can blame them? An open, spacious dining room, approximately 7,000 cans of beer and an amazing selection of inventive, well-constructed burgers -- what else does a diner need?
Truffle tater tots, that's what. And as of last week, you can get those at B.R.G.R., too.
I made my maiden voyage to the Prairie Village burger spot last night. It was crowded -- no wait, but no open tables, either. At my request, our server ticked off a few additions to the restaurant's fairly expansive menu: deep-fried asparagus, a salmon sandwich, fish and chips, and the rookie of the year, the truffle tater tots.
We passed on the other newbies and went with the tots, which were little fried nuggets of amazing -- hot, not-too-salty tots infused with just enough truffle oil to let you taste the difference. Coupled with this perfectly cooked, perfectly constructed monster ...
... it was a delicious way to end a long weekend of eating.
