The Traveling Cocktail Club hits the Farmhouse tomorrow night to celebrate autumn with food and drink.

A couple of favorites from the Manifesto menu will be served, and Ryan Maybee of Manifesto and the Rieger Hotel Grill & Exchange is set to debut the Smoked Armagnac Sling. Wait ... what?

"It's a drink I haven't made before," Maybee says in an e-mail. "I just dreamed it up yesterday when

checking out the Farmhouse inventory, but it's a spin on a simple

classic so I'm sure it will work."

"Armagnac can be a really beautiful brandy and sort of flies under the radar," he explains. "Pumping it full of applewood smoke, mixing it with rich simple syrup and Jerry Thomas' Decanter Bitters, and garnishing it with a thin slice of apple can't possibly be a bad thing."

According to the event's Facebook page, here are some more cocktails that will be featured:

  • Winter in Buenos Aires, made with Cachaca, roasted butternut-squash puree, honey-cinnamon syrup, fresh lemon juice and nutmeg
  • Shatto Blanc, made with vodka, Yellow Chartreuse, Shatto Dairy Root Beer Milk and Angostura Bitters
  • Corpse Reviver No. 2, made with dry gin, Lillet Blanc, Cointreau, fresh lemon juice and Sirene Absinthe
The event starts at 5 p.m. There will also be half-price small plates and music from Arica & TJ.

It was disappointing that they did not have the ingredients for one of their four drinks. I was really looking forward to the Shatto Blanc.
