Menudo, the traditional Mexican soup made from tripe -- the lining of beef stomach, if you haven't tasted it -- can be prepared in a clear broth or a spicy red chili base. It's a legendary hangover cure too.

On November 21, the Sunday before Thanksgiving, the non-profit organization Azteca de Greater Kansas City will host a fund-raising menudo breakfast from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine at 1015 Avenidad Cesar Shavez in Kansas City, Missouri.

And yes, there will be other breakfast items besides menudo.

The November 21 breakfast, which raises money for the organization's scholarship fund, can be eaten at the event or taken home. The menu includes a bowl of menudo, a breakfast plate featuring chorizo-and-eggs, papas, and refried beans; a chorizo-and-egg breakfast burrito; Mexican hot chocolate, and desserts.

Radio personalities Vivianna Medellin and Manny Martinez from the local Taste of Tejano radio program (on 90.1-FM KKFI)  will serve as guest DJs for the event.
