Listen up, kids, this is why you need to drink coffee

No regular coffee drinker can sit by and watch the bean grinders grind to a halt. The ink of life is apparently being threatened by a generation that doesn't understand why a cup of joe is better than joe...to the extreme.

Time reports that a new study shows only 27 percent of the age group between 18 and 24 years old drink coffee daily. Put down those energy drinks, whippersnappers, because coffee school is officially in session.

You can't meet a boy or girl for an energy drink. Coffee provides a low-impact date option that will last significantly longer than an 8-ounce can. You can even talk about your mutual hate of coffee and how archaic a practice it is to meet up for coffee.

Coffee is the perfect ending to a decadent meal. You know what doesn't sound good after a five-course tasting menu? A chilled glass of Red Bull. Coffee allows you to linger and digest, while giving your body the caffeine it needs to do some work breaking down all those calories.

Coffee can be endlessly doctored. Not liking the taste of coffee is an invalid argument. Coffee, in today's world, is meant to be ruined enhanced with syrups, sugar and milk.

Energy drinks can't be paired with food. Ooh, I'll just have a piece of Key lime pie and a Monster. Nope. The only things you can pair with an energy drink are pixie sticks or vodka.

Your palate will change. You may not drink coffee on a regular basis until after college or until you suddenly have a job in the corporate world. You also might not have liked shellfish. Get ready for crab cakes and iced coffee.

Coffee is free at work. Unless you're developing software, odds are your corporate fridge doesn't have a bunch of energy drinks. But free coffee is available at nearly every workplace. Although it will likely not be good coffee, just free coffee.
