  • Coffee is a must if you're going to take on the early morning crowds.

Coming face-to-face with hordes of shoppers and the reality of your bank account? Yeah, you're going to require a few drinks to get through Black Friday. But the shopping gods understand this and have thoughtfully placed bars near big concentrations of outlet stores.

Nondrinkers and bargain hunters should stop by the Roasterie Cafe in either Brookside (6223 Brookside Boulevard) or Leawood (4511 119th Street) for a free cup of black coffee between 5 and 6 a.m.

When you need a break -- and you will need a break -- from Oak Park Mall, get thee to Saints Pub + Patio (9270 Quivira Road in Lenexa), where you can celebrate with half-price wine and champagne on Fridays.

Out at The Legends in Kansas City, Kansas, you don't even have to leave the shopping center to decompress. The Yard House (1863 Village West Parkway) offers half-price appetizers during happy hour, from 3 to 6 p.m., and beer floats that will make you forget about shoving that woman who got your X-Box.

And finally, after a long day of shopping at Town Center in Leawood, the minimalist furniture and soft lights of the Aloft Hotel's Wxyz Bar (11620 Ash) will be calling. But it's the affordable cocktails that will leave you truly mellow. A few Jack and Cokes should provide you with just enough energy to lug those bags in from the car.
