| Diego Rivera was a fat, lusty Sagittarian |
A week ago, the Earth moved into the fire sign of Sagittarius (November 22-December 21), the ninth constellation of the zodiac cycle (generally illustrated as "the Archer")
Local astrologer -- and veteran restaurant server -- Brenda G. Smith describes a Sagittarian as "a seeker of the truth, a high-minded individual associated with philosophy." She adds: "It's the most social sign in the Zodiac. Sagittarians like to go out and have a good time."
Sagittarians also have a tendency to get fat. But it's not their fault, blame it on...Jupiter.
"Sagittarians are ruled by Jupiter, the planet of expansion," Smith says. "And in many instances, yes, they can get fat unless they're health-conscious or into athletics. Sagittarians don't like bounderies. They like to pull out the stops."
Famous fat Sagittarians include artist Diego Rivera, publisher William Randolph Hearst and Winston Churchill. Famous lusty Sagittarians? Keith Richards, Billy Idol, Jim Morrison, Gregg Allman, Don Johnson and Jean Genet. Somehow, the least likely historical figure ever to "pull out the stops" is included in this list: former Leavenworth resident Carrie Nation (1846-1911). Nation was a big woman, but her passion was destroying saloons, not drinking in them.
"Most Sagittarians are social creatures," Smith says. "They like to go out and eat and drink. And since the sign also rules travel to foreign places, Sagittarians like an array of ethnic foods, especially sweet, spicy and fragrant fare."
Interested in seducing a Sagittarian? Fruits and vegetables that get their motors running, according to Smith, include apricots, olives, chestnuts, currants, figs, juniper berries, strawberries and pears.
"Sagittarians are adventurous eaters," Smith says. "They love to try new things. And if you serve a strawberry tart for dessert, they'll follow you anywhere."

We Sagittarians are indeed seekers of truth. That's why we don't believe in astrology.
Seriously, astrology? What century is this again?
Judy: You do like to try new dishes. And I'll make you a dish with currants that will totally tantalize you. And when did you stop loving olives?
