Horror movie impresario and heavy metal icon Rob Zombie is now a coffee roaster? LA Weekly's Squid Ink reports that Zombie is now selling a pair of organic, free-trade certified coffees.
You can choose from a pound of Hellbilly Brew Peru or Hellbilly Brew Dark French Roast for $13.99. Although this won't be a White Zombie Christmas as the whole bean coffee won't ship until December 27.
Zombie joins a long list of rock stars now appearing in your kitchen. Marky Ramone introduced a pasta sauce bearing his name in September. And last month, Wilco and Intelligentsia announced a java partnership called Wilco Selections.
Other than an image of Zombie on the packaging, the branding verbiage is straight out of Hammacher Schlemmer or Sky Mall. The Peru blend is "medium-bodied with a tangy fruit finish, our
lively Peru has been hand-crafted to realize its complete flavor
potential," while the Dark French Roast has a "hint of speckle." I'm surprised they didn't go with little flecks of class.
So just you like you get your dad ties or wine every year, now you have the perfect gift for the aging metal rocker in your life.
