Little known fact about the undead: They love to don formalwear and slow-dance to "Stairway to Heaven."

The Zombie Prom and Birthday Party is the Brick's version of a birthday celebration. Come celebrate 12 years of fluffernutter sandwiches and open jams on Saturday night at 10 p.m. The cover is $5, and Cuntalope and Appropriate Grammar are scheduled to play. Costumes are optional but no doubt properly appreciated.

Book-release parties don't have to be staid affairs. Just ask local author Brandon Tietz. He's celebrating the re-release of his novel, The Socialite Method, with drinks and music at menswear boutique Method (1529 Grand) at 7 p.m. before moving on to Club Monaco (334 E. 31st St.) at 10 p.m.

The Feather Your Nest conservatory exhibit opens Saturday at Powell Gardens (1609 N.W. U.S. Highway 50 in Kingsville, Missouri). Sip on hot beverages and see indoor garden "rooms," designed by experts from the Webster House and Retro Inferno. The exhibit is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will run through March 6. Admission is $7 for adults.

Cafe Sebastienne has a seasonal winter menu that will make you forget about the cold for a little while. Stop in tonight or tomorrow (5:30 to 9 p.m. for dinner) for tacos ($13) with poblano, mushrooms, pico de gallo and cojita cheese or a starter pizza ($14) with smoked trout, leeks, fingerling potatoes, chive oil, and Green Dirt Farm's sheep's-milk cheese. Dinner options include the Moroccan-spiced lamb bolognese ($20) and pan-roasted airline pheasant breast ($24). Call 816-561-7740 to make a reservation.

There's likely only one place in Lee's Summit where you can see dueling pianos and eat a steak. That's Mingle Steakhouse and Restaurant (209 S.E. Main), which opened last February, and features dueling pianos on Friday and Saturday nights starting at 6 p.m.
