You could get your partner a box of chocolates for Valentine's Day, but that's cliche. Chocolate in a bottle? Well, that sounds a bit more promising. Boulevard's Chocolate Ale, a collaboration with chocolatier and ice-cream maven Christopher Elbow, is now on shelves.
It's also headed for taps around town, joining the latest hometown brew to flow from the keg, Boulevard Pilsner. And while his ice-cream shop, Glace, may not be serving chocolate ale, Elbow is getting into the holiday spirit with chocolate cherry bourbon made with Knob Creek.
The Chocolate Ale is a one-off seasonal beer, so if you're interested, make it a priority to get a bottle. Ink has an interview with Elbow and Pauwels about how they came to work together, the choices behind the brew's ingredients, and what you should pair (ginger cookies) with the chocolate ale.

You should also make sure that the decorative items you will be placing in the bookcase alongside your books and reading materials all have a pleasant look and feel with them.
You can find it...I bought two bottles today about 2:00. $7.99.
I might have seen you at that one and not known it! Most of the Boulevard they've had at the dinners (at least the ones I've been to) has been bottled, and they regularly carry almost the entire line of bottled year-rounds and Smokestacks at the Foundry. The only stuff I remember seeing on tap was Tank 7 when it first came out, and Bully! Porter when they first opened.
Sunfresh was out as of about 4:15 yesterday. I bought 2 of the last 4 bottles and saw someone right behind me buy the rest.
We've had Boulevard brew at McCoy's/Foundry at the Brewmasters Dinner. Maybe they carry it only for special events.
I sucked it up and bought a bottle for more than I should have. I'm pretty sure Grand Slam Liquor is the only place with any left and right now, they have 5 bottles. 3 other liquor stores I went to were out and weren't getting any more in.
McCoy's only serves their own beers, and the Foundry and Beer Kitchen don't typically carry much Boulevard stuff (at least on tap). They'll probably get some bottles.
My hubby will be thrilled about Boulevard Pilsner being on tap. But I can't believe McCoy's, the Foundry and the Beer Kitchen aren't on the list of who's getting Chocolate Ale.
Another day, another mention of Next Door Pizza. You guys love that place!
You're right, I should have had this up sooner. But every bottle is not gone. Gomer's Midtown (3838 Broadway) currently has it in stock and Royal (103rd and State Line) expects to have more next week.
so it sounds, from the blog comments, that every bottle is gone already. Thanks for posting this today, instead of yesterday.
