Top Chef Masters returns in April for a third season on Bravo, and one of Kansas City's own is hoping to take the title. Julian's Celina Tio will be part of the 12-contestant cast competing for charity (hers is Harvesters) on the reality cooking show.
This isn't the first time that Tio will be coming to your living room. Last year, she made a strong run on The Next Iron Chef, making it to the penultimate episode of the Food Network competition. Top Chef Masters premieres on Wednesday, April 6, at 10 p.m.
This is the third season for Top Chef Masters, a spin-off of the popular reality cooking competition on Bravo, which features many of the guest judges for the original show. The first season title went to chef Rick Bayless with chef Marcus Samuelsson being named the victor last season. The format for the third season will mirror the standard competition for the first time as the masters compete weekly in elimination challenges.
Tio will be competing against Alessandro Stratta, Suvir Saran, Naomi Pomeroy, Mary Sue Milliken, George Mendes, Traci Des Jardins, Floyd Cardoz, John Currence, John Rivera Sadler, Hugh Acheson, and Sue Zemanick. Chef Curtis Stone will host the competition (replacing Kelly Choi), while James Oseland and Ruth Reichl have been named as the show's judges.
Tio organized organized weekly watch parties at Julian during the airing of The Next Iron Chef, where she served the dishes that she had cooked on the show. You can expect something similar when her episode(s) of Top Chef: Masters airs. Fat City will have the details for you when Tio announces her plans.
On the smaller screen, Julian also recently launched a free iPhone
application that shows the current menu and allows you to make
reservations from your phone. You can find it on iTunes here.
