One of the restaurant closings that Fat City reported in January was the closing of the popular Neighbor's Cafe at 104 S.E. Third Street in downtown Lee's Summit. Two months later, that small-town diner has recently reopened after a recent makeover, and is now owned by a trio of young entrepreneurs: Bob Baker, Ben Wine and Tony Olsen.
Last month, the Lee's Summit Journal's Emily Randall reported that the new owners were cleaning and repainting the restaurant, and they planned to keep much of the home-style menu intact as well as the tradition of offering customers a basket of free cinnamon rolls.
"Yeah, we've got the rolls, so come on in," a waitress informed me today when I called to check on the hours of the restaurant, which has a new phone number, by the way: 816-524-4545. It is currently open from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays and Mondays, and 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. from Tuesday through Saturday.
