It's widely thought that nobody in the world knows barbecue better than Kansas City. Now there's proof.
BBQ Makes Everything Better, the first cookbook from Jason Day and Aaron Chronister -- the inventors of the Bacon Explosion -- was named the "Best Barbecue Cookbook in the World," at the 16th annual Gourmand World Cookbook Awards held on March 3 in Paris, France.
The international competition, held on the first day of the Paris Cookbook Fair, featured more than 8,000 books in 23 categories.
"We were humbled just to be recognized and absolutely honored by the
win, Chronister said in a press release. "Bringing this award home to the BBQ capital is
really exciting and great for Kansas City."
The duo's book bested entries from Colombia, Sweden and Switzerland, after the field was narrowed from 12 countries earlier this year. The book qualified for the world competition by being named the "Best US Barbecue Cookbook" in a national contest.
BBQ Makes Everything Better will be released in paperback on May 3.
