Baconalia is now at Denny's

  • Bacon is now on the dessert menu at Denny's.

If Olean gave us anal leakage, then bacon is now giving us menu leakage. The ubiquitous food is being celebrated by Denny's, as part of a 10-week promotion, "Baconalia," which launched last week.

The pork homage is encapsulated in seven dishes, including a BBBLT (eight strips of bacon), bacon meatloaf and the ultimate bacon breakfast (six strips to two eggs). The leakage comes from the dessert offering -- a maple bacon sundae.

The sundae is vanilla ice cream topped with two layers of chocolate syrup and chopped, hickory-smoked bacon. I've had a maple bacon doughnut, and on its face, the flavor combination is at least plausible.

However, if the above video is to be believed, the maple bacon sundae renders you unable to issue a coherent thought after only a few minutes. Either that or it might be Dan's suggestion "that you smoke trees every day."

Yes, the idea that easily could have been the work of stoners is now being reviewed by likely stoners. And with great marijuana usage comes plenty of philosophy, and Dan's got three words to sum up Baconalia:

"Stark ... Raving ... Horror."
