A taco is definitely portable. Restaurateur Mike Flaherty of Taco Factory is hoping the same is true for his franchise.

Joyce Smith reports in The Kansas City Star that Taco Factory will be opening a second location in the former Larry's Giant Subs space at 5050 Oak. Larry's Giant Subs is moving to Stanley Square (7968 W. 151st St.) in Overland Park and will open in May.

The original Taco Factory location (7439 Broadway) took over the former Sweet Guy space in Waldo. Charles Ferruzza talked to Flaherty -- the founder of Kennedy's Bar and Grill, who also still owns and operates the Point -- last November about his return to Waldo. And Ferruzza found a concept that appealed to a lot of different people when he dined there in January:

The place is attracting a solid clientele, though: young families from the surrounding neighborhood, drinkers from the nearby saloons, college students, and everyone in between. On the night I was eating in the brightly lit dining room, a couple had wandered over from the adjacent sushi restaurant. "We were still hungry!" they told me.
The second Taco Factory location is expected to open in mid-May. While it will serve breakfast, it won't have alcohol like the Waldo location.
