Tax Day deals and freebies to lessen the pain of paying taxes

Forget the pain of today with lots and lots of icing.

Everybody hurts on Tax Day. But the pain of mailing that check might be softened by a free cinnamon roll. Cinnabon (12701 Metcalf) is offering two free Cinnabites -- think bite-sized versions of the mall food-court classic -- from 6 to 8 p.m. today.

Maggie Moo's is offering a free mini ice-cream sundae from 3 to 6 p.m. It's the "Sundae Stimulus." There are two area locations in Gladstone (7203 N. Oak Trafficway) and Liberty (8600 North Church Road).

Over on the Plaza, P.F. Chang's China Bistro (102 W. 47th St.) has a 15 percent discount on dine-in and take-out orders today. The discount doesn't apply to alcohol or happy hour. McCormick & Schmick's (448 W. 47th St.) has a series of $10.40 entrees and drink specials. Patrons at the bar will receive $10.40 Tax Relief Certificates, good for future eats.

RA Sushi is extending its happy hour from 3 p.m. to close for its Manic Monday. Sushi and appetizers will be available from $2 to $7, while drink specials range from $2 to $6.

Chains like Subway and Starbucks have opted to forgo Tax Day specials this year. Anybody got an additional idea for where to score some local deals on eats and sweets?
