It seems apropos that the tickets for Green Dirt Farm's 'Farm Table Dinner' series will start being sold at 9 a.m. on Earth Day, which is this Friday, April 22. The Weston farm's collection of sheep's-milk cheeses are earthy and rich -- the kind of cheese that makes you glad to live where we do on this planet.
While you can't buy tickets for the summer dinner series for a few days, tickets for the monthly cheese appreciation events are on sale right now. The next will be held on Saturday, May 14, and Sunday, May 15, at 3 p.m., and involves pairing: "Stinky Cheeses and Dessert Wines." The tastings are $40.
Green Dirt Farm has expanded the dinner series to 15 different nights, with chefs from Kansas City and Lawrence designing a unique dinner based on lamb and sheep's-milk cheese from the farm. The first will be held on Saturday, May 21, with Room 39's Ted Habiger designing the menu.
Port Fonda's Patrick Ryan will be cooking back-to-back nights on Saturday, June 25, and Sunday, June 26. The American's Debbie Gold will be cooking on Saturday, July 23. A completel list of chefs and dates is available here. Tickets are $130, and the dinners typically sell out months in advance.
Farm tours are also available by appointment Wednesday through Friday and Sunday. The tours are sold-out in the month of May. The cost is $8 per person.
