Forget the little black dress and that white T-shirt that goes with everything. New black and white essentials are coming to the Plaza today. Cupcake A La Mode (4639 Wornall, across from Houston's) opens its new shop at 10 a.m.
In addition to flavors such as Chocolate Obsession (chocolate cupcake with chocolate-buttercream frosting and shaved semisweet chocolate) and Stuffed French Toast (vanilla cupcake with cream-cheese and maple-cinnamon buttercream), the shop typically offers holiday cupcakes and seasonal flavors. This month features the Citrus Collection with White Chocolate Coconut Lime, Dark Chocolate L'Orange, and Tres Lemons.
The cupcake shop will actually have locations on two sides of the Plaza. The 47th Street store will remain open for a limited time with shortened hours. You can buy cupcakes there between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., Tuesday through Friday.
Owners Lisa and Daniel Clark opened a second location (11529 Ash) last February in the Park Place shopping center in Leawood. The Park Place store is open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
