An enterprising television executive has rightfully assumed that America has only so large a palate for celebrity chefs. Unfortunately, the answer may not be a lot more palatable. VH1 announced its latest reality show -- Famous Food -- wherein "celebrities" set out to launch a restaurant.
So if you've always wanted to see Heidi Montag talk to Juicy J and DJ Paul of Three 6 Mafia about upholstery for a banquet, here's your opportunity.
It's easy to see the pitch meeting for this show.
It will be like The Restaurant meets The Surreal Life. We'll take a bunch of almost celebrities, but instead of having them in a house, they'll be in a restaurant. Crazy, right? And guess who's available ... Ashley Dupre and The Soprano's Vincent Pastore. I know, I mean what are the odds that we land both of them, let alone Danielle Staub of The Real Housewives of New Jersey. Staub ... S...T...A...U...B.
The ragtag bunch of celebrities will have to come together over the course of a 10-episode show to launch a new restaurant named ... wait for it ... Famous Food. Their guides? Mike Malin (who turned his winning stint on the reality series Big Brother into a successful restaurant group) and Lonnie Moore of The Dolce Group in Los Angeles. After eight weeks, one celebreality duo will earn a partnership stake in the new restaurant.
This moves up my timetable for the one show that will dominate the ratings in about a decade. It will star a crime-solving chef who hears ghosts and has a cast of beautiful, single friends struggling to make it in the big city.
