The Wu Tang Clan wasn't nothing to drink with ... until now. Ghostface Killah is being honored with an unofficial tribute in beer form [h/t Death + Taxes].
Twisted Pine Brewing Company has created a "Ghost Faced Killah" brew, "a six peppered beer dry hopped with Ghost Peppers, the hottest peppers in the world." The brewery based in Boulder, Colorado, was unable to get the rapper to sign off on the beer, but who would willingly endorse a brew made with the Bhut Jolokia pepper?
Now despite Twisted Pine distributing in Missouri, it appears Ghost Face Killah won't be available in Kansas City. The pepper beer will be released at the brewery's Ale House in Boulder, Colorado, on May 5, for Cinco de Mayo. Westword's Jonathan Shikes drank some last year, and it didn't look pretty.
Fiery beers have been gaining in popularity in recent years. The Weston Brewing Company introduced a small batch of Hot Pepper in 2010, a pepper-infused take on its Emerald Ale. And the fourth release in its Brew Lab Series is a West Indian Style Amber Lager. It's made with habanaro [sic] pepper and mango, but the Weston brewery promises it's a lot less spicy than the Hot Pepper, which featured serano and jalapeno peppers.
You can try Weston Brew Labs No. 4 West Indian Style Amber Lager tomorrow night at a beer dinner that starts at 6:30 p.m. The four-course dinner includes cajun sausage cheese dip, tomato tamarind soup, coconut shrimp and mango cheesecake.
