For some, spring is essentially bookended by St. Patrick's Day and Cinco de Mayo. If you're looking for cheap drinks, great eats or a bit of actual culture, there's plenty of options on Thursday, May 5, and this coming weekend.

Over on our sister blog, Wayward, Abbie Stutzer put together a round-up of performances, parties and drink specials. Manny's (207 Southwest Boulevard) will be celebrating for the next three days (May 5-7) with live music from Trio Aztlan and $5 margaritas and appetizers. On Thursday and Friday, from 7 to 8 p.m., the Cuervo Group will be holding a tequila sampling.

Also on the Boulevard, Ponak's Mexican Kitchen & Bar (2856 Southwest Boulevard) has $3 shots of their silver and gold tequila, as well as a free T-shirt giveaway.

Esquina (801 Massachusetts, Lawrence) might have the most delicious special. They'll be serving Elotes -- grilled corn on the cob rubbed with spiced mayo, herbs and cheese -- on Thursday. Wash it down with a $3 sangria, Mexican beer or house margarita ($3.50).

But the one place you really should be is the fourth annual Bonita Michoacan Charro Parade and Fiesta Parade (1150 Minnesota Avenue, Kansas City, Kansas). The event starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday with the parade (running from Fourth to 18th streets) kicking off an hour later. There's dancing, music, pony rides and plenty of authentic Mexican cuisine. The party should last until midnight.

Where will you be celebrating Cinco de Mayo?
