Last night's fire in Overland Park, which destroyed the storage warehouse used by Richard and Theresa Ng, the owners of the six area Bo Lings restaurants, won't affect business at the restaurants, Richard Ng says.

"We were testing some used refrigeration equipment," Ng says. "I don't know if there was a short in the wiring or the cord, but the equipment caught fire. The next thing we knew, the entire building was on fire, and the roof of the building was caving in."

Among the things stored in the building? Lots of flammable carry-out containers and to-go boxes.

Also stored in the building, Ng says, were decorative items and finishes that had been purchased for the new Plaza Bo Lings location; Ng is in the process of building out a new dining location on the north side of Brush Creek. Later this year, Ng plans to officially move out of his longtime location in the Board of Trade Building at 4800 Main to stylish new quarters in the Skelly Building at 605 West 47th Street.

"The new restaurant should not be delayed by losing these items," Ng says. "Most of the things are easily replaceable."
