Spin Neopolitan Pizza is coming to Lenexa. The Kansas City Star's Joyce Smith reports that Spin will open its fifth location next January in the Patio 95 Shops (formerly named the Prairie Creek Shops) at 95th Street and Renner Road.
According to the article, the new 3,500 square foot restaurant will seat 100 people in doors with seating for an additional 48 people at the bar and on the patio.
Spin, owned by Gail and Richard Lozoff and partner Ed Brownell, serves a thin crust, Neopolitan-style pizza, salads and sandwiches. Dessert is a cup of gelato. Spin also has a reasonably priced wine list (selected with guidance from The Cellar Rat's Ryan Sciarra) -- the bottles at its Main Street location are all $18 -- with a house red and white by the glass, half-liter or liter.
Back in October, Charles Ferruzza named Spin's Salsiccia con Mela -- spicy Italian sausage, candied walnuts and tart apples -- as the top pie in Kansas City. Spin received a Pitch Best Of for its pizza in 2009 and was named the Reader's Choice for pizza last year.
The Spin Bike Rides are also back -- the weekly, group bicycles rides started again on May 2 and run through September 17. The rides, designed for cyclists of all levels, leave from the Overland Park (6541 WE. 119th St.) restaurant on Monday nights, the Kansas City location (4950 Main) on Wednesday nights and the Lee's Summit restaurant (1080 NW Chipman Rd.) on Saturday mornings.
