The cameras will be rolling at Extra Virgin (1900 Main) this afternoon as the Food Network and chef/host Curstin Stone stop by the Crossroads restaurant from 1 to 5 p.m. Chef Michael Smith will be filmed making the duck-tongue tacos, which went on the menu last year. Extra Virgin is offering another incentive to diners with half-price duck-tongue tacos and happy-hour drink specials this afternoon.

They are good, but I think the oddity factor is what makes them stand out. Some people grade on a curve for exotic. I would have given them a solid "B" without the curve. They tasted really rich and a little salty to me. I am not sure what I tasted like to them. (rimshot) Any EV servers can use that duck joke, just add it to the bill. They were good on the tacos, but would have been better on quackers. Oh man I kill myself some times.
The duck tongue tacos are effing delicious. Tender meat, crispy shells, yummy stuff on top of them...absolutely one of the more craveable things I've tried at Extra Virgin!
If that's not enough for you, head over to Michael Smith and try the veal cheeks. OMGSOGOOD.
Just tried these for the first time last week, they are excellent. Way more of the texture and richness of the confit comes through than the tongue, and it's all chopped up.
Duck tongues aren't strange to many people who cook them and eat them. Not much weirder that gizzards if you think about it.
"duck-tongue"
ummmmm.... no. When did fine dining become cooking the strangest shit you can come across?
