You can put your love of burgers to good use at the Newhouse Shelter Showdown Bite-a-Burger on Friday. The benefit for the domestic-violence shelter lets you eat all the burgers you want and drink as much beer as you'd like from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Westport Flea Market (817 Westport Road). Tickets cost $20 and are available online or at the door (cash only).
It's all Greek to them, and it can be all Greek to you. The 50th annual Greek Festival (8100 West 95th Street, in Overland Park), sponsored by the St. Dionysios Greek Orthodox Church, is happening Friday through Sunday. Admission is free, but you'll probably want to take some cash for souvlaki, dolmathes, spanakopita and a bit of ouzo. The festival runs 5-10 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Sunday. It takes place rain or shine.
Beer and puppies -- two of life's best come together under one roof. Pints for Pups Pub Crawl, a benefit for Animal Haven, is Saturday from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Power & Light District. Register at the KC Live! Stage -- a $5 entry fee gets you into five pubs (McFadden's, Living Room, Tengo Sed Cantina, Maker's Mark and Pizza Bar).
Shatto Milk Company's eighth annual open house -- "Family Day on the Farm" -- is Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. See their new cheese-making facility, pet a baby calf, milk a cow yourself, and dig into Shatto cheese and milk.
