Poston Donuts (2131 South 34th Street) has found a buyer, and on July 6, the Kansas City, Kansas, doughnut shop and bakery will reopen as the Boyert Donut Hole.

"Nothing is changing beyond the name," Liz Poston says. "We're handing over the recipes to the Boyerts and keeping the same menu of donuts, sausage rolls, and biscuits and gravy -- all the things we're known for."

Liz Poston will also continue to make her signature cakes at the bakery. The new business will be called the Boyert Donut Hole Featuring Cakes by Liz Poston. She'll be joined by two of the Boyerts, Laura and Curtis. Laura will be up front, while Curtis will be cooking in back. Poston also wanted to assure loyal customers that the staff is staying in place, meaning that regulars will see the same faces serving them in the morning.

"We're all very excited that the doughnut tradition can continue. I know I'm partial, but I think they're the best doughnuts in town," Poston says.

So while July 2 will still be the last day for founders Shari and Les Poston, it will not be the last day for doughnuts. Poston Donuts will be closed July 3-6 for the holiday before it officially reopens as the Boyert Donut Hole.

The new bakery will be open from 5 a.m. until the doughnuts sell out, Wednesday through Sunday. The Boyert Donut Hole will honor all Poston coupons.
