The most anticipated collaboration since Tech N9ne's "F*ck Food" is out this week -- Boulevard's Collaboration No. 2 -- a White IPA made with Deschutes Brewery hits shelves and taps across the city.
Bottle sightings have already popped up on OnTapKC, but please feel free to leave comments on the number of bottles and price in the comments if you chance upon a stash.
The story behind the collaboration between Boulevard's brewmaster Steven Pauwels and Deschutes' brewmaster Larry Sidor (who will be leaving the Bend, Oregon, brewer at the end of the year to launch his own brewery) is a good one. The duo came together in airports and brewpubs to merge the two worlds of hops and wheat in a White IPA. Rest assured, this will not be your standard summer beer.
Boulevard has some tasting notes on the new collaboration:
Expect to be greeted with bright hoppy overtones in the aroma balanced by the sage, lemongrass, and almost bubble gum fruitiness the Belgian yeast strain used for fermentation contributes. The mouthfeel of this beer will be medium bodied, but carried quickly by near effervescent carbonation. Collaboration No. 2 will finish fairly dry, but with a lingering hop flavor and bitterness reminiscent of Deschutes' fantastic pale ales.If you have any questions about the White IPA, Boulevard's Pauwels will be at Lukas Liquor (7541 W. 119th St., Overland Park) from 3:30 to 5 p.m. today to talk about the collaboration, which will be available for purchase.
