The Kansas City Star reports that Verona Key LLC, which has opened two area Dunkin' Donuts, has signed a lease for a new location in the shops at Willow Creek. The new doughnut shop will have indoor and outdoor seating, as well as a drive-through.
In April of this year, Dunkin' Donuts announced plans to add five locations in the Northland between 2012 and 2016. And back in February of 2010, the company laid out plans for three stores in Blue Springs and Independence — the first of which was supposed to have opened this year.
Verona Key recently opened two franchises in Overland Park. The location at 7722 W. 151st St. opened in November 2009, while a second shop opened in May of last year at 7446 Metcalf.
Kansas City can expect to see a lot more shops with pink and orange signs as the Canton, Massachusetts-based company (which recently held a successful initial public offering) announced last month that it had plans to double its number of locations over the next 20 years. The doughnut chain currently has close to 6,800 stores in the United States and an additional 3,000 stores outside the country.
