Sometimes it's nice to be a kid again. And if there's one thing that will take you back, it's sugar cereal for breakfast. Get the adult version of one of your childhood cereals at Coal Vines (616 Ward Parkway), which serves Cap'n Crunch French toast for brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. Coal Vines opens at 11 a.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday.

Forget slippers. There’s nothing like slipping your feet into a barrel of grapes. Jowler Creek Vineyard & Winery (16905 Jowler Creek Rd., in Platte City) is holding a Norton Grape Stomp from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. After you celebrate the harvest season with some stomping, you’ll be treated to a barbecue lunch. The event is free for Creek Club members or $15 for non-members. Reserve a spot by calling 816-858-5528.

If you haven't figured out that a grilled pear or grilled corn can be the best part of a meal, then you're not living. Discover the magic of grilled produce at the fruit and vegetable Grill Off at Powell Gardens (1609 N.W. U.S. Highway 50) on Saturday. The event starts at 10:30 a.m. and features four local chefs giving interactive demonstrations on how to bring some serious flavor to vegetables other than spuds. The actual Grill Off competition begins at 1:30 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults, $9 for seniors and $5 for children (ages 5 to 12).

Blues. Barbecue. Be There. The 21st annual Blues and Bar-B-Q Benefit for the Sherwood Center is Friday and Saturday at B.B.'s Lawnside BBQ (1205 E. 85th St.). The event starts at 6 p.m. Friday and 3 p.m. Saturday.

If you're searching for how to make your life sustainable or you're curious about vegan food, you may want to check out Green Fest on Sunday at the Uptown Theater (3700 Broadway). The event runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and features a recycle shop, farmers market, and cuisine from Fud and Cafe Seed. Admission is free.
