As Katie Horner might say, the Crossroads better get ready for snow.

Snow & Co. — a bar built around a rotating selection of 10 artful frozen drinks — is preparing to open by the end of the month in the former Black Bamboo space at 1815 Wyandotte.

"We just want this to be a place where you can go hang out, where you know you can always go and talk," says co-owner Jerry Nevins.

In the back of the space is a long bar with 10 frozen-cocktail machines behind it (nine alcoholic and one virgin). The team behind Snow & Co. will have only bar seating off to the side, in order to give you an unencumbered path to ordering. In what he calls "team-based serving," servers will be circulating with iPod touches, allowing you to flag down any employee who is walking by your table.

"We wait on you. We don't want you waiting on us," Nevins says. "We knew it was important being so close to the Kauffman that when people need to leave, they need to leave right away."

Snow & Co. has put together 35 different recipes for frozen drinks, many of which have been named by fans on Facebook. Nevins points to the Sexual Chocolate (Christopher Elbow's spiced chocolate sauce, Cointreau, St. Germain Elderflower liqueur and fresh cream) and Miss Scarlett (Buffalo Trace bourbon, Stirring's peach liqueur, fresh lemonade and whole milk).

For those looking for something other than frozen cocktails, the bar will serve Oddly Correct coffee, wine and Boulevard (Tank 7, Pilsner, Wheat and a seasonal). Snow & Co. will also have four flavors of Soda Vie on tap.

"It's about having a tasty beverage in a place where you can hear everybody," Nevins says. "That means no DJs, no bands and no karaoke."

Snow & Co. has several seating areas. The white tables come apart in four triangular sections, as well.

Snow & Co. also has a full food menu, overseen by chef Tekia Thompson, meant for sharing. Nevin points to the prosciutto and date panini with Monterey Jack cheese and the bruschetta trios. Dessert fans should look out for specially made Oshi caramels and a dessert bruschetta with Shatto butter and balsamic strawberries.

Nevins says they will take reservations for parties of 10 or larger. He expects to announce the official grand-opening date on Twitter next week. Snow & Co. will be open from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to midnight Sunday. The phone number is 816-214-8921.

Sounds like Trops aka Tropical Liqueurs from Springfield and Como. Good idea both have done well in those areas.

Glad that there is something truly different moving in to town. Not sure if it's my type of place, but it sounds like it will be a hit.
