The menu features twists on some familiar pub fare. Among the starters are smoked cheddar bratwurst sliders, fried macaroni and cheese, adult tater tots (filled with bacon and gruyere) and kobe chili cheese fries. The entrees include a chicken fried portobello mushroom, a turkey pastrami Reuben and a heap of 8 oz. burgers that you can order with "some pink" or "no pink." On one end is the carnivore (a burger topped with sloppy joe meat, bacon, ham and American cheese), while vegetarians will be glad to see they've got three patty options (four if you count salmon, as the Lakeside Tavern does).
Beer drinkers will be drawn to the page-long beer list, which includes 20 brews on draft (Young's Double Chocolate Stout, Green Flash Red IPA, Left Hand Milk Stout and two Free State taps are among the initial offerings). There's also Ska Modus Hoperandi in cans and Lagunitas Little Sumpin Sumpin Ale in bottles.
There are daily specials — tonight, sliders are $1.50 and can beers are $3 (regularly $3 to $5). Starters are buy one, get one free from 3 to 6 p.m. every day. Lakeside Tavern was named for its view of the small lake adjacent to Mission Farms. Accordingly, there's a patio with two fire pits and overhead heaters.
