This will be the second area location for the Texas-based chain that offers a modern take on the neighborhood bar (think loaded tots - tater tots with white cheddar cheese, spicy giardiniera, bacon and green onions). Bar Louie opened in the Power & Light District at 101 E. 14th St. this past September. What say you, drinkers of the Northland? Is this a good reuse for a great patio?

I'm a KC native....I'm in the resto business and I'm not a yuppie, asshole....When people decide to stand up and be proud of what we have both local and national rather then slap down "them darn tootin outsiders!!!" We might actually turn into a cosmopolitan and burgeoning town... Instead complain and dismiss something before we even try it....We're supposed to be know as very welcoming people and that's why companies come to KC.... So I don't think I need to get over myself.. I welcome growth in any form.
You know "wink " is another term for puckering your asshole right?
Stay classy Kansas City!!
Yup-Change your handle to "yuppie", and get your ass back to the airport. The next flight to Chi-town is boarding now.
When you find 'love' in Chicago, be sure and write us a letter about. And while you're at it, get the fuck over yourself.
We have plenty of love and it has nothing to do with being foodies or being cool. Did you think we didn't have a neighborhood place before? If people in Chicago consider it a neighborhood place, I will visit it when I am in their neighborhood. In that neighborhood, there are a number of locally owned options that are already serving the market. If Bar Louie does it better, more power to them. I am just not going to hop on the "people in Chicago love it" bandwagon and give up the local places that have always been in the neighborhood. There is no coolness factor involved. I like spending my money on neighborhood places that keep my money in the neighborhood. Not a chain that tells me what my neighborhood needs and ships the money back to their neighborhood.
I hadn't ruled out trying the place... until now.
You know this is the problem with KC... no love..... Better to be cool and hate it first before all the cool people do.. Forget the fact that people in Chicago don't have a problem with it... Everyone forgets the fact that this is supposed to be a neighborhood hang out. Not some foodie centric place that you need to drive in from platte city to go to... Get the fuck over yourselves people.. It's embarrassing .
Remember on Veteran's Day a couple weeks ago? Lots of restaurants giving out free meals to vets to pay respect. Bar Louie offered a free entree up to $10. I checked their entrees and they were all over $10.
Yeah, that pretty much sums this place up.
Wink, they'll probably go 2 for 2 when they close in the P&L.
Awesome! Can't wait to try the cheezy poppers. This place is like a local bar with great character, except not local and not with no real character. I wonder what kind of "flair" they will buy for it?
Hopefullly Bar Louie will be able to deal with the insane Leasing demands of Zona Rosa.... but I'm happy about this development nonetheless.
....and this time next year, an article about the closing of bar Louie in Zona Rosa.
Stay tuned boys and girls!
