The original Paddy O'Quigley's (11851 Roe) — the unintentional nexus of Blue Valley alums on break and would-be cougars getting their karaoke fix — will close on Saturday, January 28, 2012. The Star reported last week that negotiations on a long-term lease fell through for the Irish pub and grill that has been operating in Leawood since 1990.

The latest e-newsletter from Paddy O'Quigley's talked about shutting the doors:

We opened our doors in September of 1990. Since then a lifetime of friendships have been made, families have formed and children were born simply by the chance 'Luck of the Irish' encounters made walking thru our doors ... On Jan. 28th 2012, we are closing our doors with our heads held high ... and we are 'Doing it Our Way'!!! There will be so many more Final Finals to announce and some exciting “New News” to follow us into 2012. Paddy O'Quigley's isn't leaving, just like Regis it's only going to get better.

Fans of the Irish sports pub likely know that the franchise still has another location in Leawood. Paddy O'Quigley's took over the former Blue Moose Mountain Grill space at 5317 W. 151st St. earlier this year. A new restaurant also opened this March in North Kansas City at 6312 N. Chatham.

Paddy O'Quigley's currently operates six locations, including the original Leawood Sports Zone.

I went by the original today and was informed of the closing; a sad day indeed. I did try the new location at 151st Street and the food was as delicious as ever. They said they are also looking to open another location between 87th and 95th and Metcalf.
