The beer is aged in oak bourbon barrels (anywhere from eight months to two years) with fermented cherries. Cherry is prominent in the finish and nose. The accompanying tasting notes suggested that vanilla and toffee also should be present, both of which were a bit more apparent as the beer warmed.
"It's smooth," said one Pitch staffer.
"Too smooth," warned another.
For a potent beer, it's really well-balanced, and any beer drinker in your life would be glad to find this in his or her stocking. Please note if you snag a bottle (along with the price) in the comments.
In unrelated drinking news, Reuters' writer Kara Newman discovered that Kansas City is "one of the next great cocktail cities." With visits to Manifesto, the Westport Cafe and Bar, Grunauer and Extra Virgin, Newman hit up some of the great cocktail spots in the city, noting that "bar-hoppers laud KC for its friendly, approachable vibe."

Wooten Liquor in Prairie Village had 5 bottles or so left tonight, 12/16.
Just bought the last bottle at Berbiglia at 79th and Wornall
I swear Abe all you do it bitch on these boards. You've never had a positive thing to say about anything.
Just picked up two bottles this afternoon...13 bucks a bottle from a customer of mine who owns a liquor store.
I got mine on Tuesday 12/13 at Hy-Vee on 72nd and Prospect. They were 12.99 and I only got one because HyVee wouldn't let the guy in front of my buy more than two! Now I rub it in with all my friends that I have a bottle (I will share it with them)
Went to Berbigs on 79th and Wornall and the guy told me they weren't getting their shipment until tomorrow and that four people before me had already come looking ...
Also got mine at Royal Liquor today for $12.99 and as of 1:00p, they were limiting it to 1 per person.
Yeah, this stuff isn't that good. Unless of course you enjoy a shot of whiskey in your beer.
Going to a taste beering at Grinders tonight featuring Boulevard - wonder if they'll have any?
12.99 Royal Liquor -- limit of 3 per customer, grabbed the first two bottles as they put them in the system.
I personally dont like fruity tastes and overtones in my beer. (My wines, yes.) I want it to taste like beer.
And since my reason for drink is the effect, at 11% I just might give it a try.
All out folks, sorry.
Move along, nothing to see here. They sold every bottle yesterday......
Can you say lunch run!!! I will be getting a bunch of this beauty today!!! Thx BLV for caring about what you make!!!
