Which cookbook author would you like to keep in town to cook for you?

How about this guy making you breakfast?

At the rate we're going, a lot of Kansas City cooks are going to need bigger bookshelves. High-profile food personalities and national chefs have been streaming into the city this year to talk about and hawk their new cookbooks.

In the past few months, Alton Brown, Sandra Lee, Martha Stewart, 'Cake Boss' Buddy Valastro, Aaron Sanchez (to open his restaurant Mestizo), Bobby Flay, Anne Burrell have all visited Kansas City (and Anthony Bourdain arrives this Friday). Let's say you could keep one of them in your kitchen — a friendlier, less-hobbling version of Kathy Bates in Misery — and have them cook you meals. Which chef or food star would you want around the house?

Bourdain...not for his cookbook (which is old), but for the daily snark. This town needs some snark, and an attitude.

Why are our local chef's like MS or Celina not on a national stage? Colby just put out a cookbook. JJustis has got to put out a book. Kansas City as a whole needs to do a better job promoting our talent.

Good first step...IMO would be to dump some of the crap in the profit and loss district and get more local fare in there. Doesn't have to be a huge change, but two local bbq places dueling it out for the soul of the city would be a good start.
