Rieger Hotel Grill & Exchange hosts English Christmas dinner on Thursday

If you've already had enough of watching characters eat a fabulous British holiday dinner in any one of the dozen or so movie versions of A Christmas Carol , and you would like to actually have the traditional meal yourself, the Rieger Hotel Grill & Exchange takes a culinary cue from Charles Dickens on Thursday, December 22, and host an English Christmas Dinner featuring chestnut soup, roast goose and the liquor-soaked steamed holiday pudding.

There will be one seating in the restaurant's dining room that night, at 6:30 p.m., beginning with passed hors d'oeuvres and sparkling wine, followed by the chestnut soup with sherry, roasted goose served with roasted vegetables — parsnips, carrots, potatoes and Brussels sprouts — cooked in the rendered goose fat. The finale will be the flaming pudding. Several different wines will be served throughout the meal, followed by a hearty wassail. The meal is priced at $90, including wine pairings, but the dinner can be purchased without wines. Reservations are still available by calling 816-471-2177.
