Elvis may have left the building but he hasn’t left our hearts. Rekindle your burning love at the Elvis Birthday Bash Gospel Brunch at Flamingo Lounge (13520 E. Hwy. 40, in Independence, 816-373-7465) at 11 a.m. Sunday. Tickets cost $15 at the door.

Kansas State takes on Arkansas in the 2012 Cotton Bowl tonight. The game starts at 7 p.m., and Lucky Brewgrille (5401 Johnson Drive, Mission) — you'll find plenty of K-State fans there — is hosting a watch party in its downstairs room.

Lost Lunches are back at the American Restaurant, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. today and subsequent First Fridays. The one-day menu is a seasonal mash-up of savory and sweet treats — everything from braised pork belly to pastry chef Nick Wesemann’s deconstructed takes on pie. Call 816-545-8001 to make a reservation.

It's First Friday, which means you've got a chance to pretend that you're sampling chocolates at Christopher Elbow (1819 McGee) for Valentine's Day but really just intending to eat his confection wizardry for dinner. At $1 a shot, that's a lot of dinner. In the small freezer up front, you can also snag Glace ice-cream bars in flavors like black cherry with roasted almond. Then snag an absinthe cocktail from the tap at Nica's 320 (320 Southwest Boulevard) while listening to the Brew, featuring Mark Valentine, taking the stage in back at 8 and 10 p.m. ($5 cover).

Where are you headed this weekend?
