Tonight at 7 p.m., the Flying Saucer Draught Emporium (101 E. 13th St.) is tapping a cask. Bell's calls Hopslam Ale a Double India Pale Ale; you'll call it delicious. But be forewarned: Behind the fruity, hoppy wonder beer is an alcohol by volume of 10 percent. Charlie Hooper's, Waldo Pizza's Tap Room and the Martin City Brewing Co. all had Bell's Hopslam on tap this past weekend. Has anybody had a chance to try this year's batch?

75th Street is the worst. I hear they were better before the fire. Did the good brewer get burnt up too. I just was reading the comments about it on yelp. Anyone who rates the place more than 2 stars is clueless.
Agree with the 75th st comment. Had to move from midtown to the burbs recently and found 75th st to be on my way home. I've tried three times and cannot find a beer I like. Even their current seasonal wasn't that great and at 7.00 a pop, no thanks.

Yeah...I can't disagree. It's pretty hilarious. Glad we can amuse you with our dorkery!
Racer 5 is easy to get. Gomer's, Hyvee, Royal, Lukas, Waldo Pizza. They all have Racer 5. But I agree Hopslam is overrated.
Hopslam is overrated, when it was the only giant dose of hoppiness it was wonderful. Ship has sailed on that, I'm more upset that Racer 5 is more difficult to get than I am excited that Hopslam is here. Had some at the Foundry on Saturday. By the way the previous comment about the McCoy's West Coast IPA is correct. McCoy's is doing some fantastic beer. Shame 75th Street doesn't take the hint and step up their game from mediocre to drinkable.
I had Hopslam at Waldo Pizza on Saturday, and I thought it was delicious. The fruitiness of the hops combined with the sweetness of the honey made my taste buds extremely happy.
I had one at the Foundry on Friday. It was strangely...muted. It wasn't the hops and honey explosion I remembered. I'm not sure if I'm different or if the beer's different; either way, it wasn't worth a special trip for me. I was more impressed with the McCoy's West Coast IPA I had immediately afterward.
