Lol @ Wink.... and while you may suffer the aftermath of a full blown Shitzkrieg after eating a couple of them, I cannot think of anything more goddamn American than the Zip Burger at Mug's Up.

However, if sandwiches are, where does that leave meatloaf, mac & cheese, spaghetti red aka American chow mein-or a half dozen other names, & steak with baked potato?

The burger has everything an American classic should have. Normally made of beef, delicious, a little more meaty than it should be and customizable. A good burger can end up with a whole host of toppings and styles.
Burgers are probably most typically served as kind of generic chain fast food in the suburbs, but have some wonderful high end urban versions with the best ingredients.
