Do you ever dream about food or restaurants?

Ham dreams? She must be a Kansas Citian.

A hazard of the food blogging world is that this is a position that has no set hours — food news waits for no one man, Kansas City. It's also what keeps this job interesting. We are lucky to live in a city that always has new restaurants, new chefs and new cocktails pushing for a seat at the table.

I think about food more than I should, although that would probably be the case regardless of my vocation. But, surprisingly, I don't take food into my dreams. Maybe that's because I enforce the same rule as swimming — I never eat at least a half-hour before bed. I'm kidding. I eat until the point when my mouth is asleep.

Waiters apparently dream of tiny men asking for Heinekens and reality stars rejecting bread plates. Do you ever dream about food or restaurants or waiters?

I haven't waited tables in 20 years. But it probably took 10 years after I picked up my last tip for the "Restaurant Dream" to go away (now replaced with the "Airport Dream" as my default stress dream). In the dream, I'm the only waitress working, and I'm getting slammed with table after table after table **shudder**

The first time I watched Hell's Kitchen I dreamed I was back in my kitchen with those morons working for me. We couldn't get any food out and I was reduced to screaming at them. Scary stuff.

Every server has their own version of the server dream. I think it is natural when you work in a high stress environment and try to sleep right afterwards. When I was starting out, I dreamed almost nightly that I was still at work and all my guests could see me in bed sleeping. They were staring at me trying to get me to bring them their check or a new drink. More than a few times I physically stood up to do so before realizing it was just a dream.

I've really never thought about that before but as much as food and eating is on my mind, I can't remember ever dreaming about it or restaurants. Makes you wonder who IS dreaming about it!
