If you're sick of trying to sneak your Huffy into the drive-in, the Dinner and Bikes Tour is probably more up your alley. The dinner (prepared by vegan chef Joshua Ploeg) and movie night put on by BikeWalkKC begins this Saturday at 6:30 p.m. in the Event Port space (208 W. 19th St.). Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door.
The second weekend of the Kansas City Food Circle's Eat Local and Organic Expo is from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Penn Valley Community College Gym (3201 Southwest Tfwy.).
You're busy during lunch, even if you wish that weren't the case. But instead of shoving a cheeseburger in your face while trying to keep one hand on the wheel, you can opt for something tastier. Zocalo (620 W. 48th St.) has launched its "9 for $9" lunch specials. The options include a chicken BLT, carnitas tacos, a Cuban sandwich and an Ensalada Zocalo (grilled chicken, mixed greens, toasted pepitos, pickled vegetables, chicharon and sangria vinaigrette). The Plaza restaurant also is serving brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. The brunch menu (which includes a short rib breakfast burrito and crab cakes Benedict) comes with a complimentary cocktail.
