Good You rolls out a new menu at Czar

Most food-truck operators may not admit it, but taking some time off from the road, gas pumps and uncertain weather would be a relief. And the place where mobile-eatery operators can take a break for a while appears to be Czar (1531 Grand).

First it was a partnership with the Magical Meatball Tour this January, which led to a mix of meatball appetizers and sandwiches. And now, Good You, has designed a more extensive lunch, happy-hour and late-night menu for the Crossroads bar.

The "plates" menu starts at lunch with the truck's signature burger - K.C.'s Best Burger (chef Kelli Daniels' upscale play on a Big Mac) - and a vegetarian gyro (another staple of the Good You) among the choices. Both come with a smoked potato salad or mixed greens.

The chicken and waffles come with cracked pepper and quinoa waffles, bacon jam and sriracha.

The extra plates, sides ranging from soups to salads, will also have hand-cut fries served with blueberry ketchup - which some diners may remember from the Good You's brief run in the kitchen at the News Room. The small plates (costing from $4 to $12) available from 3 to 7 p.m. include a slider version of the best burger, deviled eggs (one of Daniels' specialties when she was executive chef at the Drop) and seared gulf shrimp or pulled pork tacos.

The late plates ($5 to $10, served from 7 to 10 p.m.) are the kind of dishes meant to be enjoyed with a beer - chicken, beef or vegetarian phillies topped with Boulevard cheddar "whiz," a sweet potato and red bean burrito with chocolate mole sauce. The plates menu can also be delivered within a two-mile radius of Czar by Cowtown Couriers (816-787-0018).
